LGBTQIA+

I work extensively with queer and trans adults in their 20s and 30s, and welcome older clients as well. Whatever is coming up for you around your identity, relationships, sexuality, gender identity and expression, I want to support you. There is no right way to be queer and no right way to be trans, this includes the marginalized experiences of those who are bisexual and asexual/aromantic. Sometimes identity concerns are not at the forefront, but it may feel supportive to talk with a therapist who identities as queer or transgender themselves as you work on other concerns such as anxiety, depression, family or peer relationships, school, work stress, career questions, health concerns, starting a new relationship, grieving a break-up, loss of a loved one, or other life transitions. *** I do not currently work directly with teens. I am happy to offer counseling support to parents/caregivers of trans youth and young adults.

Chronic Illness

In a US culture that regularly rewards productivity and overworking above self-care and community care, living with a chronic illness yourself or that of a partner, family member, or other loved one can be stressful. If you need a place to process your concerns, sadness, frustration, feelings of aloneness, fear, and experience with medical professionals, I am here to walk the path along side you. I have lived with chronic Lyme symptoms for 9 years, and I have experience working therapeutically with people living with HIV, IBS/ulcerative colitis/Crohns’ disease, chronic pain, cancer, MCAS, Ankylosing spondylitis, long COVID, POTS, and a variety of autoimmune conditions.

Trauma and Attachment

Whether you are feeling the impacts of a recent or previous accident, sexual assault, childhood abuse, relationship violence, daily experiences of social oppression, or witnessing a life-threatening event, there is help available. Trauma and PTSD can show up in many ways even if you do not have specific memories, including anxiety, hypervigilance, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, irritability, relationship distress and insecurity, avoidance of certain places or activities, and/or negative self-beliefs. You do not have to tell the details of your trauma in order to heal. I support individuals through trauma recovery through offering resourcing tools, psychoeducation on trauma and attachment, attending to nervous system patterns, and exploring somatic and sensorimotor therapeutic approaches with gentleness and care.

Grief and Loss

I work particularly at the intersections of queer lives and grief and loss. I support queer and transgender clients through the often complicated emotions of losing parents, other family members, close friends, partners, and ex-partners – whether that loss is through death, estrangement, or other relational shifts. Grief work can also be helpful when navigating life transitions, shifts in health and ability, job changes, break-ups, and new living situations. Our relationships to our bodies and physical ability are complex, and I offer support holding moments of changing ability due to chronic illness with compassion.

Relationship Counseling

I work with individuals, couples and other relationship groupings around creating and maintaining successful and fulfilling relationships. I incorporate social justice, feminist, mindfulness, trauma-informed, and attachment based approaches in my relationship counseling. I enjoy working to support queer relationships as well as offering support to people in polyamorous or open relationships. Relationships often need to grow and shift as individuals grow and shift. Sometimes an outside perspective is helpful to find the way forward. We work with individual relationship skills, identifying and addressing relationship needs, uncovering beliefs and patterns that get in the way of the connection you want, improving communication skills within the relationship, and increasing understanding of partners’ family, cultural, gender, and attachment style differences. We identify and work towards relationship goals together.
